Wild hog traps swinging doors
I personally prefer the guillotine door as it generally has a bigger opening and it is positively closed with an active latch to prevent pigs from rooting it open once latched. The disadvantages are that cattle and deer are more likely to enter the trap when you have a larger opening so you have an increased risk of trapping off target animals when using an animal activated trigger. You can read that study here. Saloon Doors open into the trap and close against each other when activated. They are held closed in a V shape by a pair of springs and will allow continuous catching.

Swing Gate Wild Hog Trap
Which type of hog trap door is best? - Texas Hog Traps
Do not re-release hogs that are trapped as this just causes problems for other landowners. In fact, it is illegal to capture and re-release hogs without having them screened by a veterinarian for brucellosis and pseudorabies. Contact your local Texas Animal Health Commission for more info on that regulation. The trap should be supported at regular intervals every 4 feet by t-posts are other similar material and should not have gaps along the bottom where hogs might escape.

Swing Door Trap
The Swing Door model also known as the Swing Gate model has a spring loaded gate. Once the trap has been tripped, the gate will close at an angle in the corner of the trap. This allows a void for the hogs to push their way through the gate even after the door is tripped. An advantage of the swing gate is its capability to catch multiple hogs.
The swing door side hinge style is better than the root style top hinge door in our opinion, but both work well. It is harder for a pig to escape from a swing door. Additionally, if heavy, root doors may dissuade more pigs from entering the trap after the first is caught.
