Married and looking in vigan
It was restored to its pre-war beauty with its cobbled streets and old Spanish houses. It is the only town during World War II that was saved from destruction because of a love story. Legend has it that a Japanese General, who married a Filipina in Vigan, promised the parish priest that he would save the town from destruction from the retreating Japanese if he would agree to take care of his family. It is not only a preserved historical street like the ones in Intramuros, but it is full of life, especially during the Festival of the Arts. The City of Vigan is a Unesco World Heritage Site in that it is one of the few Hispanic towns left in the Philippines where its structures remained intact, and is well known for its cobblestone streets, and a unique architecture that fuses Philippine and Oriental building designs and construction, with colonial European architecture. I figured there was only one way to find out. I left Manila on a Sunday night on board Partas bus the only bus company that has direct trips to Vigan City. I was asleep for most of the ride, and travel was a breeze as we cruised through NLEX. In no time, I reached Vigan at AM the following day and was greeted by the staff of Vigan Tourism Council , who drove me to my accommodation. Upon reaching the place, I met with the other participants, rested a bit, and decided to explore the place along with the group. By AM, we found ourselves at the famous Calle Crisologo.

The most beautiful street in the Philippines can be found in Vigan — Calle Crisologo. It was restored to its pre-war beauty with its cobbled streets and old Spanish houses. It is the only town during World War II that was saved from destruction because of a love story.
Vigan is the third oldest city in the Philippines following Cebu and Manila. The streets are cover with cobblestone lined with old Spanish houses from either side. Because it perfectly preserves the livelihood of the Hispanic colonial era. The best way to tour around Vigan is by foot or tricycle because it is such a small city, the sights are only a few minutes away from each other.
